Guide · Distribution
How long press release distribution takes
In short
Press release distribution takes three stages: an editor reviews the release, the wire or network sends it to its sites, and a report lists the live links. The time from submission to the first live page can be short. On three of our own releases in October 2026 it was about 4 minutes for a DoFollow Links release, 39 minutes on USA Today and 67 minutes on a second USA Today release.

The three stages
First, an editor reads the release against the outlets’ rules and either approves it or asks for changes. Second, the wire or network sends the approved release to its partner sites, which publish it in their own layouts. Third, a report lists every live link. For a free release on Vokolla, editors usually respond within one business day.
Timings of our own releases
These are Vokolla’s own releases from October 2026, from submission to the first live page, in Sydney time (AEDT, UTC+11):
| Package | Submitted | First live page | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoFollow Links | 25 Oct, about 21:50 | Wire page at 21:54 | About 4 minutes |
| Premium Media | 23 Oct, 19:21 | USA Today, about 20:00 | About 39 minutes |
| Premium Media | 15 Oct, 22:59 | USA Today, 16 Oct 00:06 | About 67 minutes |
The report with every live link follows once distribution is complete.
What decides how fast it goes
Editor review comes first, so a release that already follows the outlet’s rules goes through fastest: a dateline with a city, a quote from a named person, links in the body, and the length and style the outlet asks for. Named outlets with their own editors, such as USA Today, published our releases within about one to two hours.
Our own check runs before submission for this reason: it looks for the missing dateline, the empty quote and the promotional wording that editors would otherwise ask you to fix.
How to plan around it
Submit at least a working day before the date you want the news public, so review and distribution finish in time. Check the dateline, quote, links and length before you submit, and reply to an editor’s question the same day. For a launch, publish the release as soon as the page it links to is live.
Publish with Vokolla
Vokolla shows one public price per release, from US$69, with no quote, sales call or subscription. You write the release or draft it with the Vokolla AI assistant, choose the package, pay online and get a report with every live link, and an editor reviews each release before it goes out. You can try it first with one free release every 30 days; every package is on the pricing page.
Questions people ask
Is distribution instant?
Not always, but it can be fast: our USA Today release was live 39 minutes after submission and our DoFollow Links release about 4 minutes after.
What happens if an editor asks for changes?
You get an email, revise the release and resubmit it. The refund policy sets out what happens if a release is not approved.
When does the report arrive?
After distribution is complete. It lists every live link, and you can open each one to check it.
Can I time a release for a launch day?
Plan the submission a working day or more ahead and publish when the page you are linking to is ready.
